This is a very fine example of this form of drum with finely incised geometric decorations and dark-brown patina. In addition to the two sculpted faces with elongated beards, the artist has incorporated a snake and fish.
According to Cornet (1978: p 232), "Of the several types of drums carved by the Lele, the most important is this type - a tall cylinder on a round base"
