The figure sits upright in a stately manner with an aura of power, yet juxtaposed with sensitively carved features, particularly in the eyes. While the majority of the horse is lost, one can still observe that it would have been diminished in size relative to the figure. In addition, the horse does not appear to be saddled. These are two common themes in Dogon equestrian statuary.
