  • Extraordinary Christian religious sculpture from Seville, Spain, in the late 16th and early 17th, century began a stylistic tradition that would come to be known as the "Sevillian (or Andalusian) School of Sculpture". It was the masterworks of the greatest Sevillian sculptor, Juan Martínez Montañés, known by some as "The God of Wood", that greatly influenced other sculptors of the day.
