  • William Richards Castle Jr. (1878-1963) was the grandson of the founder of Castle & Cooke in Hawaii, one of the Big Five corporations that dominated the Territory of Hawaii's economy in the late 19th and into the 20th century. Born in Honolulu and educated at Harvard, Castle was an educator and a diplomat, and served as Under Secretary of the State in the Herbert Hoover administration.
