Footnotes

  • This fine decoration has in the past been attributed to J H O'Neale although it is more likely to be the work of a pupil working in O'Neale's style. Previously only pieces from a single tea service have been recorded. The tea canister from the service was sold in the Zorensky collection, part 1, 19 March 2004, lot 192. For the teapot see Hobson (1910), pl. 81. Other pieces are illustrated by Hobson (1923), fig. 351, Sandon (1993), p. 199 and Rissik Marshall (1954), fig 586. A cup and saucer was in the Sir Jeremy Lever Collection, 7 March 2007, lot 172.
