Autograph Document Signed ("Wythe"), 1 p, oblong 4to, Orange County, VA, c.1746, being a writ in a lawsuit over a debt which also involves the theft of a pig and the payment of 400 lbs of tobacco, toned and creased with light spotting, matted and framed.
Wythe was a Signer of the Declaration of Independence and an early advocate of the abolition of slavery in Virginia, adjudicating in one early case that "all men were presumptively free in Virginia in consequence of the 1776 Declaration of Rights."
