WEST, NATHANAEL. 1903-1940.
Autograph Letter Signed ("Pep" and "Nathanael West"), 1 p, 8vo, May 31, [c.1931], to "John," on Kenmore Hall (New York) stationery, creased, tape repairs to one fold.
West takes to the mail to promote his first book, The Dream Life of Balso Snell: "The publishers - 'Contact Editions' - while well known in Europe ... are almost unknown here and have little money for advertising, so talk the book up among your literary friends. And for Christ's sake buy a copy." He signs off "Pep,", a nickname he acquired in his youth.
