First volume without free endpapers, Faint spots, but both volumes generally internally clean and both with several leaves sprung, covers differ between volumes, first volume lacking lower board, lacks spine, upper cover worn, second volume binding worn, early paper re-backing.
IMPORTANT SECOND EDITION OF FIRST VOLUME, FIRST EDITION OF SECOND VOLUME. Longman, after purchasing the copyrights to this work from Joseph Cottle, induced Wordsworth to make additions for the second edition. Wordsworth's additions extended to a second volume and a famous preface that "became in effect the revolutionary manifesto of the romantic poets of the next generation" (PMM 256).
