8vo (195 x 117 mm). xii, 228 pp. Full crushed morocco by Alfred Matthews, covers triple ruled in gilt, spine elaborately tooled and lettered in gilt with 5 raised bands, gilt turn-ins, t.e.g. Inconspicuously rebacked with original spine laid down, front free endpapers lightly chipped and started, corners just bumped.

FIRST EDITION OF ALFRED TENNYSON'S FIRST PUBLISHED VOLUME. The future Poel Laureate was just 18 when he published this volume together with his brothers Charles and Frederick. Frederick demurred at being included in the title.
