SECOND, GREATLY ENLARGED EDITION of the author's earliest substantial work, published not long after his graduation and before he became acquainted with the group of economic theorists who followed Quesnay's lead and became known as the Physiocrats. It is in the present, second edition, that Quesnay first advances his theory of natural rights, viz. liberty, property and security (Avertissement for Dupont de Nemours Physiocratie, 1768).
