TRADE CATALOGUE.
Catalogue of metalwork including drawer-pulls, castors, escutcheons, hook, hinges, onlays, and other fittings. [Birmingham?: c.1770.]
8vo (285 x 180 mm). Comprising 112 engraved plates on pale blue paper, each item numbered in the plate and mostly priced in manuscript. Late 19th century quarter morocco, spine gilt lettered "Incisioni inglesi." Stab-holes at foot where previously bound in oblong fashion, 4 plates with edge repairs, several plates cropped, extremities rubbed.
A catalogue rich in cast ornamentation of rococo design, albeit with only few captions ("Sash bolt," "To make a Complete Commode or a Bureau, sett of 6 Handles...," etc.). That it clearly traveled to Italy reflects the flourishing export market for British metalwork from the late 18th century into the 19th.
