FIRST EDITION. After travels through Italy during which he sketched the local architecture, Auguste-Henri-Victor Grandjean de Montigny joined a French artistic mission to the Portuguese court in Brazil and eventually became acting director of the Royal Academy in Rio de Janeiro.
