2 volumes. 4to (250 x 200 mm). [iv], 346; 100 pp. With 185 engraved plates (some folding, one hand-colored). Period half calf. Light toning, heavily rubbed.
Provenance: Charles Davies (ownership inscription on front pastedown noting that he bought the book at "the Sale of Mr. Lloyd Williams Esqr." in 1838); a few marginalia possibly in his hand.
FIRST EDITION. Originally issued in monthly parts between 1774 and 1778. The plates are neo-classical in taste and cover a wide range of subjects, including farm houses, inns, a public library, cottages, etc. Harris 67.
