A collection of ornament designs. Paris: c.1760.]

One fountain plate defective, some soiling and spotting, engravings of mirrors with centers cut away, one cartouche filled in with old manuscript, binding corners showing, few rubs to spine; sold as a collection of plates.
Provenance: the goldsmith Pierre Germain [1703-1783] (etched bookplate preserved); Andre Denis Berard [1806-1873] (bookplate).
Extensive series of rococo engravings after Babel including fountains (14), cartouches decorated with fountain or garden scenes (15), other cartouches (12), railings and gates, title pages, and mirrors. This suite is of particular interest as it appears to have been a working reference for Pierre Germain, whose bookplate is period to the date of publication and was preserved by Berard when the collection was rebound about a century later.
