1. Herbier général de l'amateur, deuxième série. Paris: Audot [-H. Cousin], 1839-1844.
Volumes 1-4 (of 6). 8vo (270 x 170 mm). Hand-colored engraved plates after Riocreux, Deville, de Comolera, Green, Duménil, Maubert, Vaillant, and others, some folding or double-page. 2. [A second set.] Volumes 1-5 (of 6). 8vo (265 x 170 mm). Original green roan-backed moiré cloth, spines gilt. Titles present in vol 1-4 but vol 5 with wrapper bound in instead, slightly more toning and very occasional foxing, extremities rubbed.
Loiseleur-Deslongchamps, who provided the text, claimed that since the Herbier général included notes on the history, uses and properties of the plants described as well as notes on their cultivation, it was superior to both Curtis' Botanical Magazine and Andrews' Botanist's Repository. Nissen BBI 2326. Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
