Folio (270 x 350 mm). [iv] pp. 20 hand-coloured lithographed plates, each with accompanying letterpress description leaf and blank guard. Original blindstamped red cloth, upper cover gilt lettered within ourobouros. Contents loose, 3 plates with very light arc of waterstain reaching image, 2 imprints shaved, one blank corner repaired, edges slightly bumped, rebacked, rubbed.
FIRST EDITION. A rare work, "possibly privately published" (Abbey), of drawings of Amritsar and Lahore by the wife of an Army Officer in India. In the preface, the artist writes, "the desire has been to convey to an English eye some notion of the bright, vivid colouring of Indian scenes... and their costume." Abbey Travel 483.
