Autograph Endorsement ("NP") as Emperor, in margin of a Letter Signed by Louis-Alexandre Berthier, 1 p, folio (with integral blank), Paris, August 14, 1811, to the Emperor requesting that he respond to an earlier request to grant convalescent leave for General Girard, mold toning, reinforcement at hinge, framed to 18 x 14 inches. Together with Letter Signed of General Drouet ("Comte D'Erlon"), 1 p, folio, Valladolid, July 21, 1811, to Berthier, containing the original request for Girard's convalescence, with very fine wax seal of the Republic, uniformly framed with first document.

An interesting correspondence pertaining to General Jean-Baptiste Girard, whose incompetence during the Peninsular War a few months later would lead to his dismissal by Napoleon.
