Footnotes

  • Menelaus was the brother of Agamemnon and the husband of Helen of Troy. This bust is based on a part of the monumental sculpture of Menelaus supporting the body of Patroclus, today under the Loggia dei Lanzi in the Piazza della Signoria, Florence.
