Each with gadrooned border punctuated with shells and scrolling acanthus, with engraved armorial of the 1st Earl of Onslow and motto "FESTINA LENTE", total weight approximately 294 oz troy.

Footnotes

  • George Onslow (1731 – 1814), was born to Arthur Onslow and Anne Bridges in West Clandon, Surrey. He made his career in politics first by representing Rye in the House of Commons from 1754 to 1761 and Surrey from 1761 to 1774. Onslow also held titles in succession of Lord of the Treasury, Comptroller of the Household and Treasurer of the Household. As a favored courtier of George III, he was advanced from 4th Baron Onslow to 1st Earl of Onslow and created Viscount Cranley in 1801. The Onslow family seat, Clandon Park, Surrey, is a majestic Palladian manor now in the care of the National Trust.
