Cast in sections and assembled, the circular base decorated with panels of serpentine dragons supporting four stylized Chinese beast-mask feet below stylized avian flourishes, the ovoid ash basin decorated with large panels of birds and flowers punctuated by chrysanthemum florets anon a geometric ground and banded by further stylized beast-mask flourishes, the pierced cover with open work of flying cranes and an elaborate rock formation with a coiling dragon rearing up to confront a large eagle with outstretched wings
