Depicting an elderly poet seated in semi-formal robes with a fan held to the front, his head carved from ivory and painted with polychrome pigments, further ivory employed for the hand, fan and tabi, the belt to the reverse of inlaid mother-of-pearl, signed Akishige and sealed koku
