Incorrectly attributed by NGC as F-225AG-1a. The obverse features an Indian head facing left, 13 stars surround, the date 1863 is below. The reverse is lettered F. GIES DEALER IN GROCERIES PROVISIONS HAY & STRAW BOOTS & SHOES. Struck in copper. A very scarce token featuring smooth reddish-brown surfaces and no mentionable marks or spots. Some edge roughness is detected at the base of the obverse, this possibly being mint-made. About 45 degrees of counterclockwise die rotation is noted. Civil War token specialists will pay close attention to this lot.
