A Negoro-style lacquered wood sake bottle (heishi)
Edo period
With a waisted neck terminating in a rolled rim and a wide high shoulder sharply tapering to a splayed pedestal foot, the assembled wood body covered in red lacquer occasionally thinning to black (re-lacquered).
