A large Kutani bowl with gilt metal mounting
Meiji period
The bowl interior decorated in gilt and overglaze enamels with panels of figures, fowl or landscape reserved on a kinrande ground below a wide band of cranes and stylized blossoms, the exterior with alternating foliate and geometric panels; set within a Western gilt-bronze rim with large loop and bamboo-cast handles and connected to griffin-form supports, the base marked Dai Nihon Kutani-sei.
