The black silk ground with center front seam opening embroidered in brightly hued threads with couched gilt thread accents to create roundels of birds and playful beasts surrounded by flower sprigs, birds and floral roundels, the borders and sleeve bands worked on a dark ivory silk ground (staining, fading, wear).
