A large brass censer
Dated by inscription to 1886
Heavily cast in bombé shape supported on a flared foot rim, the compressed globular sides supporting large protruding beast heads and various inscriptions including Hua Di Dian, the date Guangxu 12th year date, a list of donors, and the makers' mark You Sheng Dian zao; the interior mouth rim later soldered with loop form handles to support a removable stand for fireplace tongs of possible western manufacture.
