A group of five jade animal-shaped carvings
The first a yellow jade toggle shaped as a duck's head joined to that of a crested bird, with drill hole for suspension; the second a green and dark russet stained pebble-form toggle shaped as a recumbent long-tailed beast with suspension hole to the top; the third a recumbent horse of pale medium green hue supporting a wasp and a monkey carved from a russet vein in the matrix, the ensemble forming the rebus ma shang feng hou (May you soon rise in rank); the fourth a pebble-form toggle in salt and pepper jade of a recumbent duck with drilled suspension hole beneath the bill (possibly re-cut); the fifth a deeply undercut pale greenish-white study of a recumbent cat and kitten.
