A group of four hardstone snuff bottles
The first of mottled purple and white amethyst and flattened oval form with a cylindrical neck and concave oval base, carved with fish and water weeds; the second of fern agate with natural depressions left in the body of flattened globular form, a flat rim to the oval neck and an oval foot, one face displaying fern markings and the reverse with irregular russet veins; the third of translucent grayish-brown agate in a rounded rectangular form with cylindrical neck and oval foot, the walls delicately line-incised with rural huts and ducks in water, highlighted with gilt paint (extensive wear to gilt, neck reduced); the fourth of mottled agate, the well-hollowed body of flattened ovoid form with a flat rim to the cylindrical neck and an oval foot (foot polished down).
