A group of five porcelain snuff bottles
Late Qing/Republic period
The first of meiping form with a rolled rim to the waisted neck and finished with a recessed base, the creamy white glaze filled with pale russet-stained craze lines (chip); the second of similar meiping form with a landscape in underglaze blue painted on its densely crazed white glaze colored with pale red and black staining, the concave base left unglazed; the third of flattened globular form with cylindrical neck, covered with a russet-crazed white glaze and painted in underglaze blue with opposing dragons amid clouds, the recessed base bearing a four-character Qianlong mark in underglaze blue (chipped); the fourth with a circular-sectioned waisted neck and conforming ovoid body painted in underglaze blue with a flock of auspicious magpies attracted to garden rocks and blooming prunus branches, the recessed base displaying an artemisia leaf mark; the last with a circular neck and body of flattened ovoid form raised on a conforming foot ring, molded with mock animal mask and ring handles at the shoulder,the purple enamel glaze that showing opaque white drips to one face (chips, wear).
