Hanging scroll, ink on gold-flecked paper; inscribed and dated guiyou dong ri (a winter day in 1993) and signed Pu Jie with two seals of the artist reading zuji changbai and Aixin Jueluo Pu Jie (creases).

Footnotes

  • Pu Jie was the younger brother of Pu Yi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty. As a member of the imperial family, Pu Jie trained from an early age in the art of calligraphy. He emulated the style of the Tang dynasty scholar and calligrapher Yu Shinan (558-638), and studied with Zhao Shijun (d. 1927).
