- Pu Jie was the younger brother of Pu Yi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty. As a member of the imperial family, Pu Jie trained from an early age in the art of calligraphy. He emulated the style of the Tang dynasty scholar and calligrapher Yu Shinan (558-638), and studied with Zhao Shijun (d. 1927).
