2 parts in one volume. 4to (216 x 152 mm). a-c4 A-R8 S4; T-2O8 2P-2R4 2S6. Double-page engraved map of Scotland, 11 full-page engraved illustrations of genealogies. Early 19th century diced russia. Light foxing to title and ownership inscription crossed out, a couple of the genealogies trimmed, binding worn, upper hinge repaired, lower cover detached.

FIRST EDITION. Leslie, Bishop of Ross, was a confidant to Mary Queen of Scots, and fought for her cause at the papal court in Rome. This work, "designed to impress the pope with Scottish constancy to the Roman Catholic church," is largely a topographical and historical account of Scotland and her rulers (ODNB). Adams L541.
