the long-haired, bearded saint depicted seated on a boulder in a cave within a rocky wilderness, wearing an orange robe heightened with white beneath a brown mantle trimmed with blue fur, leaning on a staff with tau-shaped handle and gazing at the raven perched on a promontory above; with below, the brook Cherith, with plants growing on its banks
