Footnotes

  • A similar example originally in the Hermitage is listed in Porcelain in Russia, 18th-19th century, State Russian Museum, Palace ed., 2003, cat 93. Apparently the design was by G.I. Kozlov for the Orlov service at the Imperial Porcelain Factory. The form was then produced by Gardner for Prince Chernyshev (1782-1785) and repeated.
