makers mark I.T. in Cyrillic for Ivan Tarabov, Moscow, 1893-1899
an ogee-shaped three panel icon, suspended on a circular ring, central panel with figures of two Russian saints, one Nicholas the Miracle Worker, and the other Alexander Nevsky, realistically painted against the silver-gilt ground and surrounded by the border of blue dots, the left side panel with a figure of Mother of God, the right with figure of Christ, both painted in similar manner within identical borders, the exterior of all doors decorated with ornate floral designs in champlevé enamel within double borders of white and purple enamel, closing seam with twisted rope attached and flip-on hinged lock, 88 standard
height without ring: 12.2cm (4 3/4in), width when opened: 15.5cm (6 1/8in).
