A 17th century Dutch silver beaker
by Jans Scholte (II) Sneek, date letter S, possibly 1669
Flared rim and tapering sides finely engraved with three ovals each depicting a man in contemporary attire, each within elaborate scrolling foliage and an upper band of similar decoration, also engraved with three birds perched on a branch, base set with a silver coin, raised on a thread and fine gadroon-edged collet foot, engraved with gothic initials "WM", height 9.5cm, total weight 3.61oz.
