Footnotes

  • For a similar plaque possibly by Giacomo Raffaelli and set in a box attributed to Johann Christian Neuber, see cat no 6 in J H Gabriel, The Gilbert Collection Micromosaics (London 2000). The Gilbert exzample has the dog facing the opposite way but has a similar treatment of the sky and border.
