The stepped superstructure with a rectangular three quarter gallery on S-shaped supports with a mirrored back panel and a smaller shape shelf with pierced brass side galleries, on baluster supports, the rectangular top above a frieze drawer with beaded border above a pair of pleated silk and gilt metal grille panel doors enclosing a faux rosewood grained interior flanked by fluted uprights surmounted by acanthus carved trusses and terminating in similar trusses, on bun feet, 102cm wide, 40cm deep, 137cm high (40" wide, 15.5" deep, 53.5" high).

  • Gillows produced several variations of this form of chiffonier which can be seen in their Estimate Sketch Books of 1822 (e.g 3172 & 3140 in ref. 344/100).
