A Regency rosewood and gilt brass mounted inverted breakfront side cabinet
in the manner of George Bullock
The upper part with a stepped top and a moulded cornice above a glazed cupboard door enclosing shelves and a later fabric lined interior flanked by panelled cupboard doors with gilt metal grilles each enclosing a shelf and six drawers, the lower part with an inverted breakfront top above a pair of pleated silk panel doors enclosing a shelf and a later fabric lined interior, with arched panel doors to either side flanked by columnar uprights with engine turned capitals and socles on a plinth base, 177cm wide, 58cm deep, 191cm high (69.5" wide, 22.5" deep, 75" high).

  • The form of the above cabinet relates to two cabinets attributed to George Bullock on the strength of elements of their decoration, offered Sotheby's London, 18 November 2008, lot 251 and 252.
    A further related cabinet was offered Christie's New York, 21 January 1999, lot 378.
