A Queen Anne walnut, crossbanded and featherbanded bureau cabinet
The serpentine arched ogee moulded cornice with a central urn finial above a later mirrored lozenge and a pair of arched later bevelled mirrored doors enclosing two adjustable shelves; above a pair of candleslides with carrying handles to the sides, the lower part with a sloping fall enclosing two 'secret' compartments, flanked by a pair of pilasters flanked by four pigeonholes and ten short drawers, above two frieze drawers and two short and two long graduated drawers, with side carrying handles, on later ogee bracket feet, with two Pickfords Ltd depository labels to the reverse for 'Allney' and with a Smithers & Sons depository label for '18.....1941....', 102cm wide, 59cm deep, 233cm high (40" wide, 23" deep, 91.5" high).
