A black and gilt japanned cabinet on a carved, silver-gesso stand
The cabinet fitted with engraved brass hinges, lockplate and corner mounts, and decorated to the sides and doors with sprays of flowers, Chinese figures in landscapes and exotic birds, enclosing an arrangement of eleven drawers, the stand with leaf-carved moulded edge above foliate scroll-carved and pierced aprons, centred to the front by a pair of putti raised on four hipped, acanthus-carved and flowerhead-carved supports terminating in scroll feet, late 17th century, the cabinet re-decorated in the early 20th century, 122cm wide, 57cm deep, 157cm high (48" wide, 22" deep, 61.5" high).
