The vase vividly enamelled with a continuous scene of two warriors in full battle array galloping towards each other, one mounted on a yellow horse and wielding a sword in each hand, the other on grey horse and swinging a mace in each hand, with two further warriors spying on the combat from a break in the surrounding hills and the tops of tents and battle standards in the foreground, the cover also with tents and battle standards beneath the lotus-decorated finial. 41.8cm (16½in) high (2).
