A very rare pair of cloisonné enamel flat-backed reticulated wall vases

Each of flattened baluster form, the centre with a reticulated gilt-bronze medallion chased with a pair of dragons pursuing the flaming pearl, encircled by enamelled lotus-petal panels and meandering foliate scrolls bound at the stems and bearing three large lotus blossoms, with a ruyi-head border below the everted lipped rim, all raised on the pedestal foot with foliate supports variously decorated with a key-fret border, geometric patterns, lotus petals, archaistic C-scrolls and a lotus scroll, the back with a very unusual rectangular reticulated hinged opening decorated with a dense lotus scroll around a circular aperture, opening to reveal a liner to contain incense sticks or flowers.
