A fine Mughal-style green jade box and cover
18th century
The pale green jade very finely hollowed to form the translucent box and cover shaped as two conjoined circles, the box set with a gilt rim and crisply carved on the exterior with a formal design of upright lotus buds alternating with leafy fronds, the cover similarly carved with blossoming leafy lotus sprays and the finial shaped as a lotus bud. 8.3cm (3¼in) long (2).
