The first two of muso-zutsu type: the wood example with a suspended sheaf of corn, inlaid in ivory, signed Masayoshi, 19.6cm (7¾in); the red-lacquered example with a braided pattern simulating basketwork, 21.2cm (8 3/8in); the third of senryu-zutsu type lacquered with fruiting vine and tendrils, with ensuite tabako-ire, similarly decorated, 19.7cm (7¾in); the bamboo brush case of bunri yatate type, carved with a dragon among clouds, the ends fitted with ebony, signed Chosen, attached to a matching two-tier seal and ink case carved with a shishi, the interior of gilt and roiro, the ojime of red coral, signed hachi-ju o Chikusai (an old man of eighty), 24.1cm (9½in); the fifth a chopstick holder 24.1cm (9½in); the sixth a whaling knife and holder, 22cm (8¾in).
