A Satsuma bowl and a vase
One by Nikko and one by Kizan, Meiji Period
Both decorated in enamels and gilt, comprising a lobed bowl, the inside painted with numerous people participating in a parade alongside ceremonial carriages, two banners in the distance indicating offerings to the God in Iwamotoyama, the outside with a continuous scene of a procession with Sakata no Kintoki and Watanabe no Tsuna on horseback, behind the slain head of the Demon Ibaraki being paraded and carried by attendants, signed Nikko zo, 15.2cm (2in) diam., the second an ovoid vase, decorated with two rectangular panels enclosing a butterfly flitting over flowering peony and figures in rural landscape, signed Kizan, 12.2cm (4¾in) high.
