Two unusual inro and a tonkotsu
17th to 18th century
The first of four cases, of tortoiseshell, carved in relief with a village scene, the interior of nashiji, unsigned, 7.3cm (2 7/8in); with a copper and brass ojime of a crab on a leaf; and a rare manju of iron, pierced with karakusa and with a lining of black enamelled copper; the second of four cases, decorated on the black ishime ground with a dragon among clouds, signed Ryugyokusai, 10.8cm (4¼in); with green lacquered ojime; the tonkotsu of wood, inlaid with a nightingale flying over peonies in various materials, unsigned, 8cm (3 1/8in) wide.
