An inlaid iron miniature kodansu (cabinet)
By the Komai Company of Kyoto, Meiji Period
Worked throughout in typical gold nunomezogan with two hinged front doors decorated with a seascape of shrines, a torii and sailing boats on a lake before Mount Fuji, which open to reveal five small and long drawers, the scrolled top with a ho-o bird, the sides and back with other kacho-ga and rural scenes, bordered by a ground of fruiting vine, the doors applied with a clasp in the form of a butterfly flitting towards peony and chrysanthemum blossoms; the base signed in a rectangular reserve Dai Nippon koku Kyoto ju Komai sei.
