A hosoban woodblock print, depicting the actors Ichikawa Yaozo II and Nakamura Nakazo I, before a shoji, opening out to a garden where a hishaku is seen resting over a suiban beneath a pine tree, the former holding a tanto in one hand with the other resting on the hilt of his sword, standing over the latter defiantly kneeling with his arms crossed, in unidentified roles and plays, signed Shunsho ga with tsubo-shaped seal Hayashi. 32.2cm x 14.6cm (12 5/8in x 5¾in).
