Both sides decorated with a circular panel, enclosing on one side a performing monkey tethered to a perch, carved in relief with details inlaid in stained ivory and pale horn, the reverse with an unusual reverse-painted pale translucent horn portrait of a chicken and hen on a bale of rice, reserved on a natural-wood-grain ground, unsigned; with ivory ojime in the form of a gourd, unsigned. 8.5cm (3 5/8in) high.
