An unusual bamboo brushpot
By Umemoto Jyo/Shizuka, Meiji Period
Carved all over with a snow scene of several karako playing in a snow-covered bamboo grove, two boys proudly standing beside their snow model of a giant toad, signed Nanaju-nana toshi Umemoto Jyo/Shizuka o to (carved by an old man of seventy-seven years old, Umemoto Jyo/Shizuka). 12.2cm (4¾in) high.
